Serena, who has won the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games twice in doubles with her elder sister Venus, once in 2000 at Sydney and again in 2008 in Beijing, is looking forward to the singles event this time around with doubts over the fitness of her sister and to complete the coveted Career Golden Slam as well.

Only the legendary Steffi Graf has a Career Golden Slam in women’s tennis and for Serena, who grew up in the 90s idolizing the German phenomenon, emulating her idol might just be the greatest achievement of her career. The closest Serena Williams came to Olympic Games glory in singles competition was in 2008 when she reached the quarter final stages, but for a player of the caliber of Williams, it simply isn’t good enough.
